Liechtenstein judge confirms he is investigating Lebanese governor

Lebanon’s central bank ended its subsidy for petrol imports, as another European judge said he was investigating its governor over money laundering allegations.

The Central Bank of Lebanon announced it would no longer provide dollars at below market rates to petrol importers on September 12, Reuters reported.

The central bank first said it would halt the subsidy last year as it ran short of dollars, but failed to do so. The move is likely to lead to higher and more volatile petroleum prices.
