Michelle Mone faces police quiz over £200million PPE fraud probe

MICHELLE Mone faces being questioned by cops amid an investigation into a company over a £203million deal of PPE contracts during the pandemic.

Last month the bra tycoon's home was raided by officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA).

It is understood the NCA were searching for any documents that could assist an inquiry into allegations of fraud regarding a company PPE Medro.

The bra tycoon denies any involvement with PPE Medro.

The Scottish Tory peer, 50, is believed to have been present when officers attended.

As reported by The Times, Lady Mone could be questioned by officers in relation to a £203m contract PPE Medro had to supply personal protection equipment during the Covid pandemic.

The NCA is carrying out a fraud probe into PPE Medpro, which was handed multi-million contracts from the UK Department of Health in 2020.

Glasgow-born Lady Mone, who made her fortune by setting up a lingerie business, has denied any wrongdoing.

PPE Medpro was given UK Government contracts along with another supplier.

The firm was added by Lord Agnew’s office to the Government’s “VIP lane,” said to have given companies a ten times greater chance of being awarded a PPE deal.

Isle of Man-based PPE Medpro and a UK subsidiary were formed in May 2020.

This was just weeks before being awarded contracts to supply 25 million sterile gowns and masks.

The gowns were never used by the NHS after being rejected following an inspection.

Lady Mone, made a peer by David Cameron in 2015, has a £25m estate on the Isle of Man, as well as having a Belgravia home.

In January it emerged she had been referred to the House of Lords Commissioners for Standards.

Lady Mone has been contacted for comment.
