Reditus CEO Aaron Rossi indicted on tax fraud charges

A federal grand jury has charged Reditus CEO Aaron Rossi of Bloomington with tax fraud.

The indictment, which was filed Tuesday, charges Rossi with three counts of making and filing a false tax return. According to the indictment, Rossi underrepresented his income to the Internal Revenue Service in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Court records say Rossi, 39, reported incomes of about $324,000 in 2015, $500,000 in 2016, and $472,200 in 2017. It’s not clear where that income was derived.

Pekin-based Reditus opened in 2019 and within a year was handling coronavirus testing for much of the state of Illinois. Rossi also owns and operates PAL Health Technologies in Pekin and recently launched AJR Brands, a marketing company in Pekin.

Reditus responded with a brief statement: "One of Aaron Rossi's attorneys, David Rossi, said this is a personal matter and they have no comment."

The charges are related to Rossi's federal tax returns. The Illinois Department of Revenue would not comment on whether it may be investigating Rossi regarding his state tax returns.

“In the event of potential violations of the Illinois Tax Act and related offenses, our Bureau of Criminal Investigations will investigate potential violations. The Illinois Department of Revenue cannot comment on ongoing investigations, however, or their existence," said Maura Kownacki, spokesperson for the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Rossi faces an initial court hearing on April 7 in Peoria.
