Lenny Hochstein slapped with fourth malpractice suit
Dr. Leonard “Lenny” Hochstein is at the center of yet
another medical malpractice lawsuit.
The Miami-based plastic surgeon known as the “Boob God” is
being sued again for allegedly taking such poor care of a patient that she was
left with necrosis and sepsis, according to the lawsuit filed in August 2021
and exclusively obtained by Page Six.
Patient Maylen Ortega underwent a breast augmentation and an
abdominoplasty with Hochstein, who is married to “The Real Housewives of Miami”
star Lisa Hochstein, in April 2019 and claims in the suit that the famed
surgeon and his team at Med Spa South Florida “failed to follow the prevailing
standard of medical care required of medical professionals,” leaving the work
on her botched.
Two days after her surgery, Ortega’s incisions allegedly
“began turning purple and seemingly necrotic.” Ortega claims she tried
contacting Hochstein’s office for weeks about her complications but “was never
attended nor responded to.”
She ended up checking into a local hospital and “being in
excruciating pain and was in critical care.” The lawsuit claims Hochstein, 55,
failed to preserve Ortega’s blood supply, “which in turn caused necrosis and
death of tissue, leading to loss of the entire lower abdominal wall.”
Ortega had to undergo skin grafting of the area and now
alleges that she suffers from “permanent disfigurement, mental anguish,
psychological injury, extreme scarring, increased change for the necessity of
further surgery, embarrassment and humiliation” and more. She is suing for
damages in excess of $30,000 and a trial by jury.
In separate documents, Hochstein responded to the “sham”
allegations and denied any wrongdoing. Via his attorneys, he filed to have
Ortega’s lawsuit dismissed, citing various reasons, including that Ortega had
filed four months after the statute of limitations expired.
A case management filing has been submitted that brings the
case through 2023. Hochstein didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for
comment.
This is Hochstein’s fourth medical malpractice suit. He was
previously sued in August 2021 by a patient named Jennifer Geci, who claimed he
left her with “altered and deformed genitalia.” A woman named Luz Del Alba also
sued Hochstein in June 2021 over her thigh and arm lift that allegedly left her
with “large open wounds” and “significant limitation” of the range of motion in
her arms, while another woman named Christine Wilson went after him in 2019 for
“pain and suffering” from her procedures.
Hochstein denied Wilson’s allegations in a statement to Page
Six at the time and instead placed the blame on his surgical assistant.
“In 2017, I interviewed a surgical assistant to possibly
hire for my practice. As part of the interview process, he was asked to perform
skin closure,” he explained. “Ultimately, I decided against hiring him, but the
needle left in Ms. Wilson is strictly due to his negligence. I reached out to
Ms. Wilson in hopes of remedying his error, but she has chosen to sue me
instead.”
Regarding Geci’s complaint, Hochstein added, “I take the
other allegations seriously and look forward to my day in court so that I can
clear my reputation.”
He has also denied Del Alba’s claims and vowed to “prevail”
against her.
All four cases against Hochstein are ongoing.
