Joe Rogan says media stifled 'real information' on Hunter Biden: 'That's a real problem'
Comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan took time to discuss the
recent revelation that Hunter Biden's emails were, in fact, not "Russian
disinformation."
Rogan focused heavily on the media's apparent role in
suppressing the story when The New York Post first broke it right before the
2020 presidential election during his show on Saturday.
Democrats, journalists, and anti-Trump commentators insisted
at the time the story, which focused on an obtained laptop and emails allegedly
belonging to President Joe Biden's son, was potentially disinformation hoping
to sway the presidential election.
The story alleged the obtained laptop and emails showed
Hunter Biden was engaged in potentially illegal business dealings with foreign
countries, yet because it was believed to be disinformation, many social media
giants including Facebook and Twitter blocked the story from their platforms.
However, according to a recent report from The New York
Times, the laptop and emails are actually legitimate.
People familiar with the investigation said prosecutors had
examined emails between Mr. Biden, Mr. Archer and others about Burisma and
other foreign business activity,” the Times wrote. “Those emails were obtained
by The New York Times from a cache of files that appears to have come from a
laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop. The email and others
in the cache were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the
investigation.
On his show, "The Joe Rogan Experience", Rogan
expressed concern certain media outlets were stifling information because the
truth made them "uncomfortable." Rogan had brought on former CIA
officer Mike Baker to chat about Ukraine and Russia's invasion, but deviated
for a bit to talk about disinformation, whether it comes from the Kremlin or
from America's own intelligence and media.
They set a precedent and that precedent is you can stifle
information that makes you uncomfortable, you can stifle discussions where
people have points of view that you don't agree with. And you think you're
right. So you think you should be able to stop those points of view. That is
not the way to do it," Rogan says during his show. "It's never been
the way to do it. It's a dangerous precedent to set because then when more
power is acquired by whoever, whether it's social media companies or the
government or whoever the f*** it is, they get to establish narrative and that
narrative might not be honest. That's a real problem. And the only way to find
out what's real and what's not real, is to let people talk.
Rogan heavily criticized the decision to stifle information
and debate over stories like Hunter Biden's laptop, saying "it's not
healthy for anybody."
You have to f****** talk about things. You have to have open
communication. And the only way you find out if someone's full of s*** or if
someone's lying or someone's withholding information is to let people talk and
let people sort things through," Rogan insists. "The truth is messy.
There's a lot going on in the world. And you can't stifle information and
debate. It's not healthy for anybody. And you can't do it just because you
think your side is correct. It's not good. It's not, it's not what's amazing
about a free society. And you can't decide that there's certain ugly aspects of
this society that you think should be suppressed. Because when you do that,
then people can decide your aspect of society is ugly, your perspective is
ugly.
The popular podcast host went on to warn if America was ever
led by a "hardcore Putin-type leader," then "legitimate
journalists that are exposing corruption" could be suppressed and stifled.
He likened such potential efforts to the crackdown The New York Post faced when
it first reported on Hunter Biden's laptop and emails.
And this is the problem that I had with, like, the New York
Post article on ... the Hunter Biden laptop being suppressed," Rogan says
on his podcast episode. "It's not that I'm a Trump supporter... I didn't
vote for him. I didn't vote for any Republican ever in my life. But you're
looking at something that's real information, and you're hiding it from people
because you don't like the result that you think is going to come out of that information.
That's not ... how we're supposed to be doing things.
The Department of Justice is possibly preparing for an
indictment against the president's son, according to the author of
"Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and
Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich," Peter Schweizer.
"I think this New York Times piece, the fact that they
got cooperation from team Biden and probably from the Hunter Biden legal team,
is an indication that they are extremely concerned he's going to be
indicted," Schweizer said Sunday on Fox News.
