Kim Richards' daughter Brooke deletes Instagram amid fraud allegations against her in-laws
Kim Richards' daughter Brooke Brinson has come under the spotlight for wiping out all her social media photos and pages amid her in-law's ongoing money-laundering suit.
Her husband Thayer Wiederhorn has
already deleted his Instagram account and it is unclear whether any evidence could
have been used against the family in their social media posts or the couple was
intentionally hiding their presence. However, the court papers do not name
Brooke particularly involved in the case against her father-in-law Andrew
Wiederhorn.
Brooke and her husband Thayer started erasing their presence
online after their home was raided in December after father-in-law Andrew
Wiederhron was charged with fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering. It was
the FBI, who came up with the serious allegations against the family and had
been tracking them for the past few months.
Brooke's father-in-law Andrew Wiederhorn is Chief Executive
of the family company that owns Fatburger and Johnny Rockets restaurant chains.
During the raid, the FBI agents reportedly left with phones, tax documents,
digital storage devices, and other records from the couple's residence, as per
the Los Angeles Times.
The FBI affidavit that was written by an agent in November
accused Andrew of having devised and executed a "fraudulent scheme"
that helped him avoid paying taxes while receiving "millions of dollars in
sham loans" through his various businesses. Andrew is accused of routing
company money through his son's PayPal account to generate millions of American
Express rewards points. The documents further list the family's alleged lavish
expenses including $183k at a London jeweler, $100k to a divorce attorney and
$150k on a down payment for a Rolls-Royce.
Andrew's lawyer has already denied all the allegations posed
against them claiming all the accusations as baseless. "Mr. Wiederhorn
categorically denies these allegations and at the appropriate time we will
demonstrate that the government has its facts wrong," the lawyer stated.
He added, "These loans were completely legitimate and were independently
reviewed and approved. In addition, Mr. Wiederhorn's tax returns were prepared
and approved by independent tax professionals and he has been making payments
under a plan approved by the IRS."
Meanwhile, Kim Richards has not responded or publicly opened
up about the ongoing investigations against her daughter's family. In her
latest Instagram post, Richards claimed that Andy Cohen called her to talk
about returning to 'RHOBH'. “Andy Cohen called me,” she said. “Last week. He
said, ‘You know a lot of people have been asking for [you] to come back,’ and
he said, ‘I thought I’d go right to the source.’ I do love Andy a lot, he’s
great, and it was time for him to put his baby to bed so he cut the phone call
short. But we had it!” she said.
