Maersk partners with Pakistan’s largest chemical manufacturer

A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) Pakistan has partnered with Tufail Chemical Industries, providing the company with ‘Maersk Flow’.

The solution from the shipping line aims to help Tufail to streamline and manage its supply chains efficiently. This partnership marks a significant step towards modernising logistics and improving supply chain performance.

“Expansion of our business has led to increased complexity in our supply chains. Challenges such as lack of visibility on inbound shipments, milestones updates, documentation status and communication with our suppliers became more prominent and ultimately started to impact our day-to-day routines,” Pervez Tufail, Co-Chairman of Tufail Chemical Industries.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, Maersk Pakistan offered the manufacturer a pilot run of ‘Maersk Flow’. Through this pilot, the shipping line demonstrated that the solution helps enable transparency in critical supply chain processes and ensures that the flow of goods and documents is executed as planned.

Saira Yasin, Director of Exports for Tufail Chemical Industries added “With ‘Maersk Flow’ our team is able to plan our operations accurately, thus avoiding excess inventory at the warehouse and we are now able to shift our end products rapidly to the market.”

Wajeeh Ud Din Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer for Maersk Pakistan, also commented “Every day, thousands of products are moving through our customer’s supply chain, on multiple carriers, coming from and reaching many supply chain partners and stakeholders.

“This complexity has traditionally been managed fully manually via spreadsheets, emails and phone calls, which despite lots of hard work is leading to reduced visibility and control – and ultimately higher costs or lost sales. With ‘Maersk Flow’ we have offered Tufail Chemical Industries to take full control of their supply chain management and ensure that the flow of goods and documents is executed as planned.”

Maersk has also recently signed an international freight supply chain management partnership with Unilever.

The four-year agreement came into effect from the start of 2022 and will see the development and management of Unilever’s International Control Tower Solution.

This operational management solution which will consolidate the execution of its global ocean and air transport aims to enhance the company’s visibility, increase its efficiency, and drive reductions in emissions across its operations.
