Laura El-Hagrasi, Unsolved murder

The unsolved disappearance of a mother who vanished at Heathrow Airport remains a mystery to police six years on.

Luiri El-Hagrasi, commonly known as Laura, had been due to catch a flight to Egypt in April 2015 with her husband and children, but never boarded the plane.

The 33-year-old, who was originally from Latvia, had been living with her family in Thanet, Kent and her disappearance was described as “completely out of character”.

Police enquiries had established that Laura was seen arriving at Heathrow Airport, the day before she was reported missing from her home in Cliftonville, Margate.

An investigation revealed that she and her family had travelled to the airport in a silver Peugeot 208 hire car with the registration AK13 VHT.

They had arrived shortly before 10am on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, but had left their home at 3.20am.

The reason why this two hour drive took seven hours has never been explained.

Whilst police established Laura had arrived at the airport, nothing is known about her next whereabouts or if she left the country by another means.

She was reported missing the following day after a call was made to Kent Police from the family home address. It remains unclear who made the report, whether it was a family member, friend or a member of the public.

A number of public appeals were made for anyone who may have seen or heard from Laura, or had seen the vehicle travelling to Heathrow.

Laura was described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, medium build, with straight shoulder length brown hair, green eyes and with an eastern European accent.

They also said she may have used the surname Ahmed.

Speaking at the time, Kent Police’s DI Richard Vickery said: "Her family are very worried about Laura, as her disappearance is completely out of character.

"We are keeping an open mind as to where she may have gone, but it has now been more than a week since anyone had contact with her and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare."

The police now believe Laura to be dead, and her disappearance is listed as an unsolved murder case.

Despite this, her profile still appears on the Missing People list, and her poster carries the message: “Laura we are here for you whenever you are ready; we can listen, talk you through what help you need, pass a message for you and help you to be safe.”
