Terrorism suspect arrested in Arizona for illegally entering US

TUCSON - A terrorism suspect was arrested near Yuma after he allegedly illegally entered the United States Thursday.

According to a tweet shared by Chris T. Clem, Border Patrol chief patrol agent of Yuma sector at around 7:53 a.m. Monday, a 21-year-old man from Saudi Arabia was reportedly apprehended after he illegally crossed the border into the U.S. Thursday night.

After further investigation, Border Patrol officials said the Saudi Arabian reportedly was linked to several Yemeni subjects of interest.

The agency also reported that he is a potential terrorist.

While he has not yet been identified, the terrorism suspect was pictured wearing a Central Oneida County volunteer jacket, which is an ambulance company out of New York. News 4 Tucson reached out to that company who says the suspect is not connected to their organization.

"I'm unsure of how he obtained it, we have policies in place when an employee leaves employment that we retrieve all the property, but that particular jacket we used for about 10 years which is well before my time," Thomas Meyers, Chief of EMS at Central Oneida County said. "So in the course of ten years one or two have probably slipped through the cracks."

Later Monday evening, the Saudi Embassy released a statement regarding the suspect, confirming he is not a Saudi citizen.

"Based on the engagement with the relevant U.S. authorities on this matter, the Embassy confirms that the individual mentioned here is not a Saudi citizen. We will continue to coordinate with the US govt and bring forward any facts on this matter."
