Eldad Perry assassinated in Rehovot
Eldad Perry, a real-estate entrepreneur, was assassinated in
Rehovot on Friday morning outside a synagogue following morning prayers, police
said.
A man on a motorcycle waited for Perry as he walked out of
the synagogue and shot him several times and fled the scene, according to
reports. Paramedics’ attempts to revive Perry were unsuccessful and he was
declared dead at the scene.
Perry owned a real estate firm and had encountered severe
financial difficulties forcing a declaration of bankruptcy. As of June 2021, he
had amassed personal debts of some NIS 324 million and his company had accrued
an even larger deficit, according to reports.
In October, an investigation by KAN uncovered that when
Perry’s company was forced to halt operating, many clients who had invested
life’s savings with him were left without the apartments they had dreamed of
owning.
In a second shooting incident in Tel Aviv’s Neve Sha’anan
neighborhood, an Eritrean national in his 30s was critically wounded on Friday
morning. Life-saving efforts failed and he was declared dead at Ichilov
Hospital in Tel Aviv. The police’s initial suspicion is that the shooting was
caused following a scuffle between local criminals.
