An international report accuses Turkey of using “organized crime” for private purposes

The name of Turkey was mentioned in an extensive report published by an international organization accusing Ankara of using the arenas of organized crime for the political interests and purposes of its government led by the Party for Justice and Development and its ally, the Party of the right-wing nationalist movement.

The content of the report published by the international organization’s “Global Initiative to Combat Transnational Organized Crime” has in largely coincided with Bekir’s statements, in terms of commission of organized crimes by the Turkish government, but questthe latter has consistently denied such allegations.

More than one Turkish security analyst refused to comment on this report on the pretext that “the current political conditions in the country do not allow it”, in a clear indication that they fear detention or the pursuit of security by the authorities.

The report was not only aimed at Turkey, in when it looked at the relationship of all UN member states to the world of organized crime, but Ankara ranked 12th among 193 countries with the highest rates of organized crime, according to the report funded by the US State Department , The European Union and the International Criminal Police Organization “Interpol”.

The report also revealed the organized crime rate in Turkey, which is 6.89, and Ankara ranks fifth among 46 Asian countries with the highest organized crime rates and third among 14 countries located in West Asia, according to the same report, in which was stated that Turkey has long been known as a “mafia state”, but today this situation is much better than ever.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also accused “organization of the global crime indexThe Turkish government is explicitly accused of “committing organized crimes itself” or being behind them, not just instigating them.

His report, published verbatim in British, stated that “the Turkish government frequently uses certain criminal markets such as the oil and gold trade, the trafficking of human beings and the smuggling of arms for its own political ends and objectives”.

The report of the international organization also states that “Ankara chooses to strengthen or reduce the control over the activities of organized crime according to its political conditions and geopolitical relations with other countries”.

According to the report, some state employees are believed to be involved in supplying weapons to paramilitary groups in Turkey, as well as in the illegal transfer of weapons to the fighting jihadists in Syria and Libya.

Criminal networks are mainly spread in areas close to Turkey’s land and sea borders, such as Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep and Reyhanli, where they are involved in cross-border smuggling activities ranging from drugs to smuggling of migrants, according to the report of the International Organization.
