Peru’s Prime Minister and leader of governing party indicted for money laundering
The Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office has announced that it will
investigate the prime minister, Guido Bellido, right-hand man of the communist
Pedro Castillo, and the leader of the government party Free Peru, Vladimir
Cerrón, of course money laundering, in the framework of investigations opened
several weeks ago about the electoral campaign of the formation and that
affects more than 15 suspects.
Pedro Castillo recently appointed his prime minister Guido
Bellido, a radical Marxist and confessed defender of the acts of the Shining
Path terrorist group.
According to the information collected by the Peruvian
newspaper Trade, the prosecutor Richard Rojas has decided to include 17 more
people in the investigations, among them the spokesman for Peru Libre, Waldemar
Cerrón – Vladimir’s brother – and the governor of Junín, Fernando Orihuela, as
well as other senior party officials.
Thus, Rojas has indicated that this alleged criminal
organization acted to “unduly” finance the campaigns of Peru Libre since its
foundation and the payments, services and expenses derived from the legal
processes opened against them, especially those that implicated Vladimir
Cerrón, reports EP.
The Prosecutor’s Office argues that among the reasons for
including Cerrón in the investigations are the “suspicious” bank movements
carried out in recent years and the information obtained in the framework of
the ‘Los Dinámicos del Centro’ case, regarding this alleged illegal financing.
Rojas explained that this alleged organization would be
headed by Cerrón, who was also sentenced a few years ago for a conflict of
interest and is being investigated for alleged crimes of corruption in the
country.
Regarding Pedro Castillo’s henchman, Guido Bellido, the
prosecutor has decided to include you as a result of the information collected
during the investigations of the Los Dinámicos del Centro case and added that
the prime minister “would have had knowledge” of the alleged crimes and “would
have coordinated and participated” in their execution.
The new Peruvian government after the victory of Pedro
Castillo In the presidential elections, it began with controversy after the
Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Bellido for an alleged
crime of apology for terrorism in relation to a series of activities that he
would have carried out in favor of Shining Path.
Also, the Superior Court of Justice of Lima (TSJ) admitted
on Monday for processing a ‘habeas corpus’ appeal that demands the annulment of
the resolution that designates Bellido as President of the Council of Ministers
and Iber Maraví as Minister of Labor of the Government of Castillo.
On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office opened an
investigation against the Minister of the Interior, Juan Carrasco, for alleged
“misconduct” because he requested a license as a lawyer to access the position
without apparently completing the procedures so that there would not be an
incompatibility in the positions.
