Weatherford signs surface pumping contract with Argentina operator

Multinational oilfield service company Weatherford International has announced that it has secured a two-year contract with an undisclosed independent operator in Argentina.

Under the $15m contract, Weatherford will supply 146 surface pump units, which includes the Maximizer II surface pump unit and the Rotaflex 2.0 long stroke pump unit.

The company noted that both the units will be deployed in mature critical and challenging fields in the San Jorge Gulf basin to improve the production efficiency of the Argentina operator.

Weatherford artificial climbing systems deputy director Franklin Cueto said: “This contract is the result of years of experience and collaboration with the operator in Argentina.

“Tough market conditions demand a greater emphasis on efficient and optimised production, and that is what we are committed to doing. This contract is the affirmation that Weatherford continues to provide the industry’s highest level of continuous, reliable and cost-effective performance for well life durability.”

According to the company, the surface pumping units are drawn on decades of expertise in the oil and gas sector, for any kind of well environment.

Each pumping unit is manufactured in advanced facilities and certified in accordance with API 11E, API Q1, ISO and CE / ATEX standards.

Weatherford said that all the units are fully tested to meet respective ‘quality assurance’ standards prior to shipping and installation.

Last week, Weatherford secured a contract from the Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) to provide project management services for the completion of 20 wells in the Al-Nasiriyah field in Iraq.

In May 2020, Weatherford signed an agreement with its top creditors, enabling the oilfield service company to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
