Olga Demina may have been dismembered, dissolved in acid

A ballerina from the world-famous Bolshoi Theatre who disappeared six years ago may have been chopped up and dissolved in sulfuric acid by a man who had sexually compromising images of her, according to reports.

Russian investigators are reportedly pursuing a new lead in the case of 25-year-old Olga Demina, who went missing in 2014, according to East2West News, which cited a report in Komsomolskaya Pravda.

She is believed to have been killed in an alleged blackmail plot by Malkhaz Dzhavoev, 40, the prime suspect, who has been described as her “manager” and “lover,” the news outlet reported.

In 2017, Dzhavoev was extradited from Germany on an Interpol warrant and held in Moscow after fleeing from Russia while posing as a Kurdish refugee, according to the report.

He was recently released from prison after serving five and a half years for fraud involving an apartment belonging to Demina’s boyfriend Alexey Fetisov.

While behind bars, Dzhavoev “let slip” that the ballerina’s body “was dismembered and dissolved in acid” — and her remains were likely discarded in a well, a law enforcement source said, according to the report.

“Search work is underway there now. Sulfuric acid does dissolve everything to zero,” the source told the Russian news outlet. “Some body fragments should be preserved, but they still need to be found.”

Right before she disappeared, Dzhavoev took Demina on a trip to dance at a night spot for a group of businessmen, East2West News reported.

He and his father reportedly bought the acid from an industrial supplier.

Demina’s mother told the news outlet that she was informed that new information has emerged in the case.

“The killer murdered her and then dismembered the corpse … then he dissolved parts of the corpse in acid,” said the mother, adding that her daughter had paid a large amount of money to Dzhavoev.

“Shortly before her death, she sold her Peugeot car. She went to sell it with Malkhaz. He took the money,” she said. “Olga also had loans in her name — and gave the money to Malkhaz. She was completely at his mercy.”

The ballerina is believed to have been terrified that “sexually compromising” images of her would surface online — but despite her payments, the photographs were posted anyway, East2West News reported.

Dzhavoev’s attorney has denied any wrongdoing by his client, claiming Demina may have left the country.

“We have information that Olga Demina was long dreaming of leaving Russia and arranging her personal life abroad,” the lawyer said.
