Pablo Escobar’s Brother Sues Apple for $2.6 Billion
According to a new TMZ report, Pablo Escobar’s brother,
Roberto, is suing Apple after receiving life-threatening letters. These letters
were supposedly the result of a vulnerability in Escobar’s iPhone X.
Escobar hopes to secure a massive $2.6 billion payout in the
lawsuit, claiming that a hacker named Diego acquired his home address via a
FaceTime security flaw.
Before the lawsuit, back in 2018, Escobar says an Apple
employee reassured him that the iPhone X was the most secure smartphone on the
market.
Apparently, Escobar had received “several assassination
attempts on his life before buying the iPhone X, and only bought the phone
because he’d been assured his info would be safe from hackers.”
Court documents state Escobar is suing due to emotional
distress, the cost of relocating his home as well as beefing up his security.
Pablo Escobar was the founder and leader of the Medellín
Cartel and the wealthiest criminal in history, with a net worth equivalent to
$59 billion in 2019.
Pablo Escobar was known as “The King of Cocaine,” as he
monopolized the cocaine drug trade to the United States until his death in
1993.
