Roman Abramovich, Chelsea owner, loses £2.4bn as coronavirus wreaks financial havoc
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly suffered the
consequence of the deadly coronavirus by losing £2.4bn as the virus wreaks
financial havoc.
Many businesses have not been going on well since the
outbreak of this life threatening disease which has thrown the whole world into
serious panic and confusion.
The outbreak of the virus has affected world's financial
markets which turned Roman Abramovich to a loser in terms of capital according
to the report on UK Mirror.
Report added that should the Russian Billionaire wants to
make up for the loss, then he may decide to sell the Premier League giants.
Many suitors have shown interest in buying Chelsea most especially when the
United Kingdom government denied giving Roman Abramovich visa renewal.
There were reports then that the Russian may sell the club
out of annoyance, but he has not made any decision on Chelsea up till today.
Abramovich has been the owner of Chelsea since 2003, and he
has won many trophies since then. But the 53-year-old has not been seen at
Stamford Bridge since May 2018 although he traveled to Baku to watch Chelsea in
the Europa League final against Arsenal.
Chelsea players made sure that they gave Roman Abramovich
the superb win over Arsenal to lift the title which was Eden Hazard's last game
for the Blues.
The Blues are currently occupying fourth position on the
Premier League standings as Frank Lampard and his wards continue their fight to
finish among the top four.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Roman Abramovich wanted
to buy Arsenal instead of Chelsea 16 years ago after some ignorant Swiss
bankers mistakenly warned the Russian billionaire off.
After Abramovich's purchase of the Stamford Bridge outfit,
he made several attempts to sign Gunners main man Thierry Henry but his
attempst were futile.
In a new book written by two Wall Street journalists, The
Club, there were revelations of Abramovic's activities. The Russian oligarch
spoke with length executives of top Premier League clubs and hired experts from
Swiss bank to examine the economic value of top English sides.
It is understood that the experts claimed that Arsenal was
not for sale and Abramovic opted to buy Chelsea for £140 million
